about

Welcome, sit down, let us take you on a journey. Where are we going you ask? I don't know. How long will it take to get there? 45 minutes.

You know, it's been a long time now. How have you been? We've been making recordings now for as long as some cats live... maybe longer. When the Markers go into a studio to make a record we don't always know what we're doing. Would you believe that? Sometimes we don't even go into a studio to make a record. We hitch hike to different parts of the country and hi-jack practice spaces from people that don't even like us and give them nothing in return.. nothing that is save for a pile of noodly jams and half formed ideas... but within these folds and wrinkles of the Magik brain are buried colonels of ... shall we say genius? No that would be a little presumptuous... but certainly there is something exciting happening amid the miasma. Something we've always been pretty good at... spontaneous composition.

A few years back the Magik Markers were just sort of floating around... between labels... between states .. between members.. We weren't even sure what we were supposed to sound like anymore.. we were on a quest. Searchin' for that new sound. We looked around for a long while. A lot of the sounds we made in those dark and dirty spaces never saw the light of day... until now.

This album is a collection of material, mostly duo exchanges, but a few featuring current member John Shaw and I believe at least one other guest on a track. The thick haze permeating the tracks could maybe be attributed to the downtown San Francisco locale of a lot of the recordings made. Anyway... if you're interested in taking a trip with the Markers.. than go ahead, grip that handle on your La Z Boy and recline with us while we're Searchin' Searchin' for that new sound.
